For the 250th anniversary PUMA Germany has reissued this brass hoof print. In the 1960's Walter Frevert had hoof prints important to European hunters formed in clay and cast as ashtrays by order of PUMA. Today, tradition and heritage are reflected in these prints which have been cast 1:1.
"For over 850 years many customs have developed in Europe to follow the tracks of game. One of them is the exact observation of the impressions in soft ground or snow. As early as 1500 this art was mentioned by Emperor Maximilian, who recorded an interesting compilation of the characteristic game tracks. In order to bring this noble custom closer to today's hunters, I have imprinted the most important tracks in nature in clay and had them worked in an artful way by the sculptor Lies Ketterer." ~ Walter Frevert, Chief Forester
This noble cast hoof print is intended for various applications: ashtrays, paperweights, candy dish, gifts, honouring the successful hunter, etc.
